W. Scott Swenson, CAI, GPPA – President and Chief Auctioneer

Scott Swenson serves as President and Chief Auctioneer of Jones Swenson Auctions and has been a professional auctioneer since 1983. Scott is active in the auctioneering industry at both a state and national level. A nationally acclaimed auctioneer, Mr. Swenson has served on the Board of Directors of the 5,000 member National Auctioneers Association and has recently served as President of the Texas Auctioneers Association. In 2014 he was inducted into the Texas Auctioneers Hall of Fame. In addition, Mr. Swenson is a four time top finalist in the International Auctioneer Championship and won the Texas State Champion Auctioneer in 1992. Since 1992 he has also served as an instructor at the Texas Auction Academy in Dallas and is a Continuing Education instructor for the Texas Auctioneers Association.

Mr. Swenson holds Auctioneer Licenses in Texas as well as several other states, a real estate broker license in Texas and is an approved auctioneer for the U.S. Bankruptcy Court. Swenson is a graduate of Texas A&M University, Britten Auction Academy, and the Certified Auctioneers Institute. Since 1983, Mr. Swenson has personally conducted over 1,500 auctions across the U.S. and Mexico. Under Scott’s leadership, his company has won over 24 auction marketing awards from the Texas Auctioneers Association.

Scott holds the acclaimed Certified Auctioneers Institute designation (CAI) as well as Graduate Personal Property Appraiser (GPPA) certification.

CAI Designation – The Certified Auctioneers Institute is the most prestigious designation awarded in the auction industry.  Less than 5% of auctioneers in the US hold this certification. Designed for leaders in the industry and auction firm decision-makers, the CAI is an executive development program focused on enhancing skills and providing the tools to be a leader in the auction industry.

GPPA Designation – The professional designation awarded by the NAA Educational Institute to qualified property appraisers who meet the educational and experiential requirements. A member holding a GPPA designation must comply with standards and requirements of the Uniform Standards of Professional Appraisal Practice.

Robert Huey – Director of Operations

Robert Huey joined the Jones Swenson team in 2015. His professional background is in the U.S. Defense Industry, with over 35 years as an Engineer, Project Manager and Engineering Manager. He has a wide range of experience in the design, development and deployment of engineering and business systems for military and civilian customers.
Robert has worked directly with military stakeholders on multiple deployments to U.S. military bases in the Continental U.S. and overseas. He is a graduate of Texas A&M University, and currently lives in Georgetown, Texas.
For the clients of Jones Swenson Auctions, Robert brings a sharp eye for logistics and protocol leading to more organized and smoothly run auctions.

Robert is a civilian associate of the 3d Cavalry Regiment Association, Fort Hood, Texas, and a member of the Volunteers in Police Service with the Georgetown Texas Police Department.

Harry Daffern -Auction Manager

Harry DaffernHarry Daffern has worked with Jones Swenson Auctions since 2006. He was recruited to the company as an auctioneer, but was moved into the position of Auction Manager due to his depth of knowledge about commercial & industrial equipment. His years of experience and his professional approach to all auction situations make him an invaluable asset to the Jones Swenson team.

Harry Daffern has an extensive background in industrial sales, servicing such clients as Bell Helicopter, General Dynamics, Ling – Tempco – Vought, Ben Hogan Company, Justin Boot, and Harbison Fischer Manufacturing. Prior to entering the auction business, Harry owned and operated D & D Business Products, selling new and pre-owned office furniture to the public and the business industry.

In 2004, Harry obtained his Auctioneer’s license when he graduated from The Texas Auction Academy. Harry went on to graduate from The Professional Ringman Institute in 2006. He has also obtained a designation from the Certified Appraisers Guild of America. He is an active member of the Texas Auctioneers Association.

Certified Appraisers Guild of America – The Certified Appraisers Guild of America confers the professional membership designation CAGA to recognize the completion of the appraiser’s certification education. Members are professionals who have completed the certification process.     In addition, the members have made a commitment to the Certified Appraisers Guild’s Code of Professional Ethics and to the Uniform Standards of Professional Appraisal Practice.

Laura Crowell – Marketing and Logistics

Laura Crowell is the Office Manager for Jones Swenson Auctions and oversees marketing and logistics.  Laura began her career in the Music Industry in Nashville, Tennessee promoting artists such as Tim McGraw, Gary Allan, Lee Ann Womack, Rhett Akins, Wynonna and Mark Chesnutt.  She had an amazing and successful 9 years in the industry: Public relations, media marketing, project management, promotions and fundraising.  Laura was annually involved with the City Of Hope Celebrity Softball Tournament and Tim McGraw’s Swampstock Event supporting the Kiwanis Club.  Laura received her Bachelor of Science in Recording Industry Management and minor in Business Administration and Mass Communications from Middle Tennessee State University.

In addition to working in the music industry, Laura worked with non profits in the Austin area as a marketing consultant; working with board members to increase awareness and donor membership, analyze strategic and financial goals and fundraising.  Managing auctions was a large part of her responsibilities.  In 2012, Laura switched gears and went into education; becoming a teacher’s assistant at Lake Travis Elementary School for 3 years.

Laura, her husband Mark and 15 year old son Watts have lived in the Lake Travis area since 2009.  They enjoy the lifestyle Lake Travis and Lake Austin have to offer with their dogs: Vladimir and Candy.

Carl Naylor -Business Development Consultant

Carl Naylor serves as a Consultant and is engaged in Long Range Planning, Business Procurement, Specialized Logistics, and Advanced Marketing Concepts.  Carl has been a licensed Auctioneer and Real Estate Sales Professional since 1997 and has participated in many complex and specialized auctions across the United States.  In 1998, he founded  “Carl Naylor Auction and Real Estate Sales “ and began conducting Auctions , selling Real Estate , and working as a contract Auctioneer for various auction companies.  He served as the Auction Manager and Executive VP of the Mike Jones Auction Group from 1999 until 2003 and in 2007 joined Jones-Swenson Auctions as VP of Sales and Auction Manager.  After earning a GPPA designation in 2010, he became one of the lead Industrial Appraisers for FF&E Appraisals, a Jones Swenson subsidiary.  In 2013, he left this position and expanded his Auction, Appraisal and Consulting Business in the area of Heavy Haul Trucking, Logistics and Transportation with an emphasis on business development and market share acquisition.
